I had a very nice day with family. Laughing and coming home to the little kitten who is a bundle of joy. He is sitting on my keyboard as I type this now purring away. *snuggles* So gorgeous!

A curious kitten

Even in the dark there is always light. My light is family and the purity of a curious soul trapped inside the body of a kitten. I would like to introduce you to the newest member of my family: Rascal a male ginger kitten that is just adorable and I already love with all my heart only having known them for not even 24 hours.

It is amazing how something so simple as bringing new life into your home can really brighten the spirit. I also finished Christmas shopping today and I plan to take Rascal to the nursing home to see my Nanna when we visit her on Christmas day. <)

Falling into faded light

I have not been very active at the moment and have over a 100 emails I need to reply to and process. The reason, Dad has cancer again and naturally it has upset me and really shaken the foundations I stand on. This time he will have to have intravenous chemotherapy and radiation treatment. I hope it GOES this time. Blah.

It was my Nanna’s birthday two days ago and I went into the nursing home to visit her. She wasn’t having a very good day and it was so horrible to see her in pain, crying and not being able to process everything. It was so hard to control my tears. I held her hand and kept telling her I loved her and tried to comfort her.

Life is really hard and painful (in an emotional sense) at the moment. But I know it will get better, it has to right? And I guess sometimes you have to find and make your own happiness, by clearing out the gloomy clouds of despair. It’s not always that easy though, especially when so much seems to weigh over my head; Cancer, Nanna, Poppy, Animals, Online things, writing my books and now education as well. Sometimes I just need to STOP, and breath.

I sent in my application to complete my Preliminary/HSC years of High School again, so I should hopefully be starting that next year, if approved. I think I should be, and I am excited about this because it is my future and I can make my dreams happen by pushing myself!

Learning to dream

The course information for the Higher School Certificate is finally available and I shall hopefully send in my application in the next few weeks. I am really excited about this and have been thinking long and hard about what subjects I will take. If I work hard enough I will get an ATAR high enough to seek acceptance into University. This would be a dream come true so I really hope I can push myself far enough to do it! I know I will have to juggle caring for Poppy, online responsibilities and schooling but I think I can! It may mean I might have to rearrange some things online or seek greater help, but it should be okay?

Earth and Environmental Science
English Standard (if I work hard enough I will try and get into advanced)
Fundamentals Of English
Modern History

They are the courses I have decided to apply for. I am really excited about this.

Annoyingly we had a power outage for close to 17 hours last night and this morning. It was really annoying, but thank god it wasn’t any longer! I was itching to get online and do whatever it is that I do.

Chicken Dreams

I made a theme for the site (kya.nu) featuring a cute little chicken. About time I made my own theme instead of using other peoples (nothing wrong with doing so – but I had wanted to make something of my own). Trying to mesh the colours together took the longest but hopefully it looks cuddly and visible to all. I also made a few updates; Added new pixels, added a new emoticon/smilies set and added a few more avatar/icon examples.

That is about it for now, I guess I should go and collapse into bed.

Threadless ate my wallet

Threadless has a sale on this week with all shirts $12. Yep this was deadly, and I ended up spending $251 uh oh. But hey, I did get a whole heap of super awesome shirts that will (and do) make me smile! They are selling out pretty fast, so if you desperately want any of these I would BUY before it is too late. Unless you can wait for reprints, sometimes that takes years *sniff*

Today was icky, in that a brown snake was in my Poppy’s house (arrrrh!) I wasn’t there at the time but it has still freaked me out. The brown snakes are very dangerous and a bite from them can kill you, so you can imagine my alarm. My uncle got rid of that one, I just hope there is no more that come inside, it really is scary. *shudders* On top of that there has also been a lot of smoke around lately, there is a rather big fire in my area but thankfully it is some distance away so I should be safe. It still makes me nervous though.

The birds are going well! Bai Bai has some funny tricks like jumping on me and then my head and getting tangled in my hair. He/She has yet to poo in my hair but I just know that moment will come. She is growing so fast though and has already started to try and fly. For her sake I hope she can be free and enjoy the wonders of the word without being locked in a cage. We just have to wait and see, and find how she goes in the wild.

Heated Internet

It has been very hot lately, so hot that it killed my broadband wireless modem. *gonk* Thankfully I have the prepaid dial up so I can not be bored to death. I had to call my internet provider and they are sending another one out, so hopefully it won't take too long.

There have been a few fires around lately and it's pretty scary. Today has been very hot and dry with strong winds, a deadly combination. I hope we don't get any, I have a fear of fires and having to get all the animals together and trying to escape. *trembles*

Bai Bai & Hello

I would like to introduce to everyone the newest addition to my family a little baby Currawong bird named Bai Bai (I say it like bye bye). Dad found the little bird on the ground after it must have fallen out of it’s nest, poor little thing. So we have it in the spare room with Poodle and they seem to get on pretty well. We have had Poodle for almost a year now, looks like it is turning into a bird paradise. Bai Bai does the cutest thing though, after you feed her she makes this adorable squeaking sound just like a squeeky toy, love it.

New Layout + Hair?

I had to change the layout on my LiveJournal I was really over the old standard one and found a cool one by milou_veronica so had to use it! Messed around and changed a few small style thingies but I am happy with it right now. :D

I know I want red hair and that I now need a nice Fringe/Bangs. I am just not sure if I want it nice and straight or layered. Ignore the fact that in the straight image it is actually different lengths haha. I think you get the general idea though. What do you like? Personally I like the look of layers and it probably is possible to get a straight look from it, but it would be a bit of hair chopped. *hmmm*

I still need to fix my LiveJournal tags. One of these days. ;D

Welcome Back, Reality

So I recently renewed my domain Kya.nu and I realised that it really was not receiving any love at all. Instead of installing WordPress again I thought I would have one journal (this one) and just have public posts shown there. Easy peezie. I still like to blog, but I do appreciate some level of privacy a lot more now. Of course I still twitter (who doesn't!) but there are a number of entries that are private.

So on top of renewing Kya.nu I also jazzed it up a little and gave it a fresh but SIMPLE new look. Hope it looks okay. I did start to get a bit lazy towards the end haha.

I am taking part in 50bookchallenge which is to read 50 books in one year. I thought it would be fun and also inspire me to keep on reading (not that I need any help in that regard) but also to keep track of what I am reading in a better way! :) (Progress bar previously used from here with my own colours added.)
